Facebook event listing to share
This event has been a while in the making, add Fort Langley to the list of communities mixing art studio tours with wine. Anita Bisset of The Fort Finery and Paul Wood of Number 52 Studio with the help of other local artists have formed Art Fort Langley to host events of interest to those who support artists in the Fort Langley area.
On May 9th. 2019, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. , 15 artist studios and galleries open their doors for this art walk event. 8 of the participating locations will be serving a selection of wines chosen by wine experts, Jessica Monuk, and Quinot Mathee of Everything Wines.
A sparkling start at location #1 includes your ticket, Riedel stemware wine glass, route map, and swag bag featuring local merchant promotional items. Ticket holder start times are in smaller groups so we don’t overwhelm the wine servers and small artist studios (that’s were the scheduling ends). Take your time to walk the tour route, stopping at the numbered locations in sequence so that the selected wines can be tasted in the appropriate order, as chosen by our wine hosts who will be at the various locations to chat about wines. Discuss with artists what inspires them (maybe find a piece of art to take home), or stop for a bite to eat at any of the amazing restaurants offering Price Fixe menus with special prices just for this event.
Tickets for this event are $57 and will be available at The Fort Finery Tuesday April 9th. 3:00 – 7:00 or on-line starting April 10th. Art Fort Langley
New hours – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 12-5 (closed Sundays until May 1) or by appointment (I’m really close by)
The Fort Finery has been open for a little over 2 years now, and in that time my business and sales have shifted to on-line. I know that my little shop has somewhat limited business hours and I chose the hours originally to make myself available to weekend visitors, but I realize that I’m not spending as much time as I would like with family and friends that have weekends off. So I will be shortening my hours during the winter time and starting to close Sundays until May 2019, then I will open again on Sundays. Happy 2019 everyone.
Available online through Etsy or drop by the store to pre-order for arrival early December. Beautiful winter photographs of icon Fort Langley locations the CN Station and the river under the Haldi Bridge, taken by store owner Anita Bisset.
We have all heard the mantra to shop local, and here at The Fort Finery we love people that support local because thats all we have in store. We carry greeting cards from local artists so it doesn’t have to cost lots of money to support them. Cards for all occasions and lots for those with a cheeky sense of humour. Come check out Raven’s Rest, MOWA, Fancy That by Tara, Karen Kroeker, Made Wilder, Momentograms and more to come.
The Fort Finery will be featuring a different ring from one of the talented makers in our little store every day, starting today for the month of January. A new ring will be available for purchase on our website or in store. Web purchases are available within North America and will have a price that includes tax and tracked shipping.
Many of the rings featured are one of a kind and once it is gone its gone! Please make sure you know your size as there is no returns on any of the on-line purchases if it does not fit.
Also make sure to sign up for our newsletter to receive articles and event notices ( I promise no spam!)
Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working parents!
The Fort Finery has booked dates this summer at the Fort Langley Farmer’s Market featuring some of the individual artists and makers from our store. Yesterday was our first date and we featured the work of 2 of our artists (both new moms) Christiana from Momentograms Photography and Carli from CarliSita fine jewellery. Even with a little rain we had a successful day!
More dates coming up at the market so check events, or on our Facebook page for featured artists.
After a long winter now comes the rains and new items to brighten the space. We have some colourful additions at our little shop in the form of handcrafted bunnies and flower fairies by Coquitlam maker Pam Leitch. I met Pam this past Christmas at the Dunbar Craft Fair and was amazed at the craftwork and personality she put into everyone of her unique creations. Hide one of Pam’s keepsake pieces along with the chocolates on Easter morning for an extra surprise.
We’ve been open 4 months now and I like to keep things moving. Change is good right? I rearranged items in my little store and featured some new paintings of my own and Michael King.
I also received a lovely selection of leather accessories from Trace of Grey Designs this week. If you attend Circle Craft, Make It, or the Bloom craft markets (or others) you have probably met Monique and Claudia of T.O.G. and know the craftsmanship and artistry that goes into every handbag, wrap bracelet and wallet that they make, which makes their unique creations a perfect fit for The Fort Finery.
As Valentines falls on a Tuesday, a day we are normally closed, we will be open for any last minute purchases for your sweetie.
Locally Made Luxuries in Fort Langley
The Fort Finery features fine art, sterling silver jewellery, small batch hand crafted perfumes, soy candles, and curious things, all created locally by local artists and makers.
The Fort Finery is the new home of Anita Bisset creator of the Juliet 925 brand of sterling silver jewellery. Anita, originally from Langley had been working and living in Vancouver and selling her creations in multiple stores in Vancouver and select crafts shows. After taking part in the Cranberry Festival 2015 and Bloom Market last Christmas, Anita rediscovered Langley and fell in love with the idea of working, living, and selling out of the same space. Anita had met many extremely talented artists/creators along the way who didn’t have representation outside Vancouver and wanted to provide a space to showcase their handmade luxuries.
Because Anita is an artist/jeweller she can provide the knowledge about the process it takes to create each of the artists pieces in The Fort Finery. Opening just in time for the Cranberry Festival and the holidays, The Fort Finery Located at #8 – 23230 Billy Brown Rd. the Flatiron Building in Bedford Landing, joins these other established businesses – The Pencil Box Studio, Susan Galick Fine Art, Judy Nygren, and Floralista flower shop.

Are you the maker of small luxuries? Do you make jewellery, art, perfume, candles, letterpress, leatherwork, apothecary or any number of handcrafted things? Are you passionate about handmade? I have been a creator myself for many years, a painter, ceramicist, now a jewellery crafter.
I have worked in and owned fine art spaces. I want to represent creators, and artists that are looking for knowledgeable and fair representation.
If you are not currently represented by a retailer in our area, and think you may have creations that fit our criteria, get in touch, send us photos, set up a meeting, we would love to hear from you!
